The ancient Egyptians bought entire boatloads of the resins from the Phoenicians, using them in incense, insect repellent, perfume and salves for wounds and sores; they were also key ingredients in the embalming process. Myrrh oil served as a rejuvenating facial treatment, while frankincense was charred and ground into a power to make the heavy kohl eyeliner Egyptian women famously wore. First century Rome is said to have consumed 2800 tons of frankincense and 550 tons of myrrh yearly.
The warm, sweet, spicy aroma of frankincense is a balance to the musky and pungent odor of myrrh. Frankincense instills courage, helps the mind focus, and lifts the spirit. In the story of the Three Wise Men, Frankincense was offered to the Christ child to represent divinity. Myrrh clears the air, is used in divination, regenerates the spirit and restores clarity. Myrrh was given as a gift to the Christ child to alleviate suffering. Combined, the two bring much to us in ushering in a stressful yet wonderful holiday season and a new year.

Birthed at or within three days of Winter Solstice, December 21, 2017, just two days after Saturn entered Capricorn; these handcrafted pieces, while all individual, are perfect for both Scrying and Meditation.
Every 2.5 years or so, Saturn enters a new sign, encouraging us to own our stories in a specific style and area of our lives. Here until December 2020, Saturn in Capricorn will be teaching us a great many things about the effort it takes to mature and the importance of making that effort without expectation of what will be received. To Saturn in Capricorn, the work is the reward. Self-respect is the reward. Mastery is the reward.
Scrying or Meditation? Read on to decide which is for you.
The word “scrying” actually comes from the Old English word descry which means “to make out dimly” or “to reveal.” Scrying is about revealing the unseen through the use of our in-born second sight. Second sight is our capacity to see things that can’t usually be perceived through our five senses.
Scrying was first mentioned in the 10th Century in an Ancient Persian text called the “Shahnameh.” Almost every culture has used some form of scrying: from the Native American’s observation of smoke, to the Egyptians use of oil gazing to gain wisdom.
Meditation is turning your attention away from distracting thoughts and focusing on the present moment. Meditating is deceptively simple. Many of my Wellness Clients find focused meditation for stress relief easier than traditional meditation practices. That is because this type of meditation allows you to focus your attention on an a self-reflective object rather than trying to achieve a clear mind. Focused meditation is something that everyone can do at home without an instructor or teacher.
The choice is yours . . . looking for information, a word form the Universe, Scrying is for you. Interested in becoming more focused, stress reduction or freeing your mind? Meditation is for you.
Whether you are Scrying or Meditating how and when you “tool” was produced matters. These Limited Edition pieces were hand crafted on December 21, 2017; Winter Solstice. Why is that important, you ask?
If you are Scrying, take note that Winter Solstice is the longest night of the year and bears within itself the promise of the return of the light, the “rebirth” of the Sun. Thus, the Winter Solstice is a time to celebrate the darkness of the womb from which creation arises, a time to honor the cycles of life, death and rebirth, the dark night of the soul and the rebirth of new hope and vision. When we move deeper into the darkness instead of avoiding it, we find the gifts the darkness holds. To some, that may mean moving into the shadow aspect of self. What needs to be released, to be brought into the light of our awareness? Even in our darkest moments we can find the seeds of growth and healing within. By seeking answers with a Scrying Mirror you utilize this important time to welcome the Winter Solstice, surrender to the darkness, and return to your light.
If you will be using your Mirror for Meditation purposes, take time to release what no longer serves you, think things like: self-doubt, negative self-talk, dimming your light, not living up to your potential, and coloring inside the lines, and in its place welcome rebirth and renewal. This moment in time is an invitation to surrender inward, accept the darkness, and plant your seeds of intention for the springtime that lies ahead.
Whether you will be Meditating or Scrying the period of December 2017 - December 2020, while Saturn is in Capricorn, is the perfect time Astrologically.
